a 14-year-old girl was brought in after a harrowing car accident on Kalerwe Street, Kampala. Despite sustaining multiple injuries to her head and limbs, she has shown incredible strength and resilience. 🚨 A brain CT scan is crucial to rule out potential complications, but the financial barrier stands in the way. The single mother, who makes a living selling kasoli and cassava, is unable to cover the 250k cost. That is when the Bergen Children Foundation could help with this cost and if needed also support this young survivor on her journey to recovery. Every contribution matters!
In the pediatric ward, a 9-month-old warrior was referred from Mubende with a persistent cough and difficulty breathing. Despite initial pneumonia treatment, the situation worsened, leading to oxygen dependence. The mother, only 19 years old, and separated from the unsupportive father, faces immense challenges as a casual laborer alongside her grandmother. They are paid 7000 shillings (19.7kr) per day.
Food insecurity in Uganda, stemming from poverty, landlessness, and high fertility, affects over 50% of children under 5, with anemia, stunting, and underweight issues. Our organization actively addresses malnutrition at Mulago Hospital, funding vital treatments like chest x-rays and lactose-free milk, ensuring sustained support for vulnerable patients.
We have generously donated essential medical equipment to the Mwanamugimu Nutritional Unit at Mulago Hospital, supporting their vital work in treating malnourished patients and improving healthcare services.
We have generously donated blood pressure machines, glucometers, and monitors to the pediatrics wards at Mulago Hospital. This contribution aims to enhance healthcare for young patients, providing essential tools for accurate monitoring and timely interventions.
